Close to 25,000 Left Without Power in South-East Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Severe Storms
Nearly twenty-five thousand homes in south-east Queensland found themselves experiencing outages on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms swept through the state, bringing powerful gusts reaching over 100 km/h.
Large Ice Stones and Broad Damage
Locals observed substantial frozen pellets as large as 7cm in certain regions. Weather authorities confirmed that different parts across the state had been affected by significant hail.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the affected regions, with dozens of response units working to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victorian Storm Challenges
Simultaneously, approximately 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also experienced electricity disruptions after Melbourne recorded its most precipitation in over 500 days.
State Emergency Services handled over five hundred emergency reports across the region, mainly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

At one point on the previous day, over 28,000 power users in the state were experiencing outages.

Moist weather were predicted to continue along large portions of Queensland's east this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
Tomorrow was predicted as the most rainy day, with ongoing severe weather risk expected across various areas of both regions.

Health officials alerted that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
