Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of characters who will split off from the main group to undertake their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look out of place, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the group access locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor vowed a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to travel to Timmony in search of Casimir.
