Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Lift French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now claimed the season-opening cup on 14 different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match between the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup winners after the French winger found the net in the opening stages.

However, Marseille fired two times late to seize a surprise lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial leveler in the dying seconds to force the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all scored successfully for PSG to seal a convincing shootout win.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
